Feminist Take on Tudor History at the Barons Court Theatre

From 23 April to 11 May the Barons Court Theatre will be staging a production of Three Queens Rosamund Gravelle’s debut play.
Described as a feminist take on Tudor History it is set in February, 1554. Queen Mary wears the crown of a nation divided by religion. Before the dawn breaks, confessions will be made, prayers will be sent, and more than one life will hang in the balance.
Queen Mary is determined to save the soul of England. Future Queen Elizabeth is desperate to avoid her mother’s fate, and teenage Queen Jane Grey’s rebellion seeks to unravel everything.
Told in real time over one sleepless night, the play follows three women manoeuvring for power, each carving out their place in history.
Bexy Black plays Queen Mary, with Eliza Shea as Princess Elizabeth, Martha Crow as Lady Jane Grey, Sushant Shekhar as Sir Robert Dudley, Les Kenny-Green as Cardinal Reginald Pole and Kat Ashley as Sally Sharp.
There will be a post-show Q&A following the 25 April performance with a panel featuring Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (former Leader of The House of Lords), Dr Elizabeth Norton (eminent Tudor historian) and the playwright. It will be chaired by Sharon Willems, Three Queens director and the Artistic Director of Barons Court Theatre.
Three Queens runs for 75 minutes without an interval.
Tickets cost £15 or £10 concessions including "legitimate descendants of Henry VIII".
