Ginkgo Gardens are pending the May Bank Holiday celebrating the tomato.

Visitors to Ginkgo's garden centre can explore new varieties and old favourites, with ready-to-fruit plants on sale, expert advice and planting demonstrations.

Café Ginkgo will create special dishes in its honour, and there will be tomato-related activities for the family. And on Sunday morning there will be an extra special event when Fairy Jem waves her magic wand over the proceedings.

Ginkgo Garden Centre will demonstrate edible gardening at its best, with a variety of tomato plants on sale, from familiar friends to glamorous newcomers; selected for their character, flavour and growability - even a 3-inch high plant will still bear fruit this summer.

There will be tasting samples, and Ginkgo’s experts will be giving tomato sowing and planting demonstrations, plus free recipes from The Tomato Growers’ Association.

For the family, Café Ginkgo will provide puzzles and activities with a tomato flavour, while on Sunday, the much-loved Jem’s Fairy School comes to Café Ginkgo.

Jem’s Fairies & Wizards bring their magical children’s session to the Café. For children aged two upwards, this is an interactive session which stimulates the imagination. Little princesses and little wizards like to dress up for the class, where songs, magic, games and crafts are involved whilst learning how to be fairies.

Fairy Jem will be waving her wand over Café Ginkgo on Sunday May 30 from 10am – 11.30am.
For bookings, call Café Ginkgo on 020 8563 7112 then press menu option 1.
