Hammersmith Wins Double Gold in London in Bloom Awards
Judges impressed by roof gardens and park and flowers lining streets
Hammersmith's green spaces and hanging baskets are officially among the best in London, after winning a double gold at the London in Bloom Awards.
HammersmithLondon picked up gold awards for Best Town Centre and best Business Improvement District, as well as overall winners for both categories.
HammersmithLondon Business Improvement District, or BID is a not-for-profit organisation providing additional or improved services as identified and requested by local businesses
The BID says it worked closely in partnership with the local council to ensure the display for this year’s competition was the best it has ever been. Judges from the annual horticultural competition visited the town centre in August and were given a tour of the area, taking in the HammersmithLondon Roof Garden, St Paul’s Green and the HammersmithLondon Roof Park.
Situated in front of the Novotel Hotel, the roof park is a work in progress, but the judges were very impressed with the BID’s plans to create another green open space for the town’s residents and workers to enjoy. They were also complimentary about the beautiful hanging baskets and flowers that lined the streets and HammersmithLondon’s dedication to improving green infrastructure.
They were impressed with the presentation of the town, the amount of effort that that had been put in and the overall improvement of the area since the BID’s double silver gilt win in 2012.
This is the fifth time that HammersmithLondon have been successful in the renowned competition, and is the best result to date.
Operations director, Matthew John says: “We're absolutely delighted with these awards and it shows our continued commitment and success to improving the green infrastructure in Hammersmith for our businesses and visitors to enjoy."
