Tube and Train Strikes Set to Resume After Easter
ASLEF drivers vote to continue industrial action
Drivers continuing industrial action after other staff have settled disputes

Disruption on public transport due to strikes is likely to continue after Easter with more industrial action announced by the ASLEF union.
Drivers on both the tube and train networks have voted to continue the dispute over pay and conditions.
There is likely to be a severe impact on London Underground services on and around Monday 8 April. Drivers on the Elizabeth Line and London Overground are not taking part in the strike but these services area expected to be busier than usual. There is also a six-day overtime ban in place around this time.
A further strike day has been scheduled for Saturday 4 May meaning disruption over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Finn Brennan, ASLEF’s organiser on London Underground, said, “ASLEF Tube train drivers will strike in April and May in a long-running dispute over London Underground’s failure to give assurances that changes to our members’ terms and conditions will not be imposed without agreement and that all existing agreements will be honoured.”
Other disputes on the tube have been ended with the acceptance of pay rises ranging from 5.8% to 11%.
The 20-month dispute on the national train network is also continuing with ASLEF drivers holding their 15th in a series of one day strikes. This will impact Great Western Railway on Saturday 6 April with South Western Railway and Southern/Gatwick Express hit on Monday 8 April.
In addition, there is an overtime ban from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 April and on Tuesday 9 April which will affect services on these days.
General Secretary of ASLEF, Mick Whelan said on the vote by train drivers, “Our members voted overwhelmingly – yet again – for strike action. Those votes show – yet again – a clear rejection by train drivers of the ridiculous offer put to us in April last year by the Rail Delivery Group which knew that offer would be rejected because a land grab for all the terms and conditions we have negotiated over the years would never be accepted by our members.”
The government says that the train drivers have been given an offer that the union has failed to give them an opportunity to vote on.
