There have been chaotic scenes in stations across London since industrial action by the RMT Union began at 9.30pm last night, Monday April 28. It will continue until the morning of Wednesday April 30 after talks between Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union & London Underground (LU) failed after only two hours and both parties left the conciliatory service Acas.
The union say the strike is necessary to prevent ticket office closures which they believe compromise safety.

A second strike is due to take place from 9pm on Monday May 5. This strike action will take place ahead of a May Day event in memory of former RMT leader Bob Crow, who died of a suspected heart attack on March 11, aged 52. The event will also be in remembrance of Tony Benn, the politician and campaigner who died several days after Mr Crow.
