Estate agents Douglas & Gordon, whose staff took to the streets on December 1 for the second annual D&G Charity Day in aid of the children’s charity Kids Company, says that over 350 boxes were filled across the company's 18 offices to create Christmas hampers for London's vulnerable children.

The agency, which has an office in Fulham Road and Hammersmith's Glenthorne Road says that altogether, the boxes weighted over eight tonnes, with over 1,000 gifts and over 8,450 items of food to create Christmas hampers for London’s vulnerable children.

As well as food and toys, they collected over £8,500 from generous donors.

The items, ranging from packets of pasta to luxury boxes of chocolates, were packed into thousands of individual hampers by D& G staff at the Kids Company Headquarters in Blackfriars, ready to be handed out at Christmas to the 16,000 children that are looked after by Kids Company.

Ivor Dickinson, managing director of Douglas & Gordon says: " After the success of last year's Company Charity day, we have again been amazed that this year, we have collected even more toys, food and cash donations to create 650 food hampers for families most in need over Christmas.

"We would like to thank all of the homeowners in the Douglas & Gordon areas who generously donated to this worthwhile cause."

He adds: " Once again, each and every member of staff worked their socks off from dusk to dawn to help collect as many items as possible, I have never been so proud."

Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder of Kids Company, said: " We couldn’t be more thrilled by the remarkable amounts of food, toys and donations that the Douglas & Gordon staff collected and the astonishing kindness from the general public. All of these donations will help create even more Christmas hampers for London’s vulnerable children."

Kids Company provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. Their services reach 16,000 children across London, including the most deprived and at risk whose parents are unable to care for them due to their own practical and emotional challenges.
