Police have confirmed that a woman who was taken to hospital after a road accident in Hammersmith on the morning of July 4, sustained "non-life threatening" injuries.

The woman was driving a Mercedes along Shepherd's Bush Road at around 8am on Monday when her car was involved in a collision with two other cars.

Witnesses looked on in horror as the fire brigade arrived and a team of firefighters worked to cut the woman free from her car.

Police say a man was arrested and taken to Hammersmith Police Station on suspicion of drink driving and was subsequently released on bail.

This was the second serious crash in Hammersmith in a week. On the previous Monday, social worker Magda Legowska was killed when her moped collided with a van at the junction of Talgarth Road junction with North End Road.

Magda, who was 50, had worked for the council since July 2001 and became Principal Social Worker in 2007.
