|Furnish W12 Celebrates Social Saturday|
Local people warmly invited to visit re-use shop in West 12 Centre
Furnish, the furniture re-use shop in the West 12 shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush is celebrating Social Saturday 2015 on October 10.
Furnish says local people are warmly invited to drop in to this special fun day to find out more about its mission and take advantage of discounts and special offers.
The event is part of a nationwide day of events and activities led by Social Enterprise UK celebrating social enterprise, investment and savings and encouraging the British public to buy social.
Furnish manager, Maeve O Loughlin says: " We are very pleased to support this year’s Social Saturday. It’s a chance for everyone to become more aware of how social enterprises such as Furnish brings huge benefits to the local community and environment.
" Local people will find out more about how what we do makes a real difference to the local community and the world we live in. We offer volunteering and employment opportunities, help local residents to access recycled items and we also cut the need for landfill by re-using furniture."
Every year, in partnership with London Re-use Network, Furnish collects unwanted furniture donated by the local community and makes these items available to local residents and organisations. A generous discount system is offered to enable low income households to furnish their homes.
Furnish is part of Shepherd's Bush Housing Group's social enterprise, Staying First, which also delivers services such as housing, debt and welfare benefit advice, home improvements, aids and adaptations, painting and decorating and repairs and maintenance.
