Plagued by helicopter noise? Frustrated by low-flying choppers over Hammersmith & Fulham? H&F's representatives on a West London helicopter group want to hear from you.

The London Heliport Consultative Group is a multi-borough forum that receives reports and complaints from residents on private helicopter movements in and out of the Barclays London Heliport in Lombard Road, Battersea.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is represented on the group by Cllr Larry Culhane and local resident Christina Smyth.

" Noise and air pollution from private helicopters affects parts of the borough, and we are determined that the views of residents are heard at these meetings," says Cllr Culhane.

" We are sandwiched between Heathrow to the west and restricted flying zones for Hyde Park and the City of London to the east, which leads to a concentration of flights from the heliport into a corridor directly over our residents."

The heliport is currently only operating at approximately 75 per cent capacity so those numbers could increase as private flights become increasingly prevalent. The heliport it can handle up to 12,000 landings and take-offs per year.

That restricted figure is spread out across the year. However, for three specific days during the summer months (as well as additional five days, on alternate years, when the Farnborough Air Show trade fair is on), those restrictions are lifted to cater for visitors to high profile sports events, including the British F1 Grand Prix and Royal Ascot.

The London Heliport Consultative Group is represented by councillors and residents from H&F Council, Wandsworth Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, as well as four helicopter pilots.

To make complaints directly, or raise any other concerns, call the heliport on 020 7228 0181 or report it online at www.londonheliport.co.uk.

The consultative group next meets on Monday 16 November. For more information on the group and details of how to also complain about police or military helicopters, visit Wandsworth Council's page on helicopter noise. Meanwhile, you can make your your voice heard on the council's website so they can be put forward at this month's meeting.
