Hammersmith and Fulham's participation in Cityread London comes to an end this week with events for children related to the First World War.

Here's what's happening:

First World War Craft Event
Wednesday 23 April, 2.30 to 4pm 
Hammersmith Library
Age: 4 to 11 
Come to this craft session - you can make either a First World War bus or ambulance. There’s no need to book a place to this free session, just drop in.

Private Peaceful Storytelling Event with John Kirk
Thursday 24 April, 4 to 5pm
Fulham Library
Age: 7+ 
John Kirk presents a reinterpretation of award winning author and former children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo’s acclaimed story Private Peaceful. Join Private Thomas Peaceful as he remembers his life and times, and his part in a war that would change his life forever.

John Kirk is an accomplished storyteller and he enjoys bringing stories to life with dynamic and imaginative ideas. This event is presented with the permission of Berlin Associates. Places are limited to this event, so please book your free place early.

First World War Memorabilia Craft Session
Thursday 24 April, 2 to 3.30pm 
Hammersmith Library
Age: 4 to 11 
Create some memorabilia from medals to regiment badges, replica tanks and infantry helmets. There’s no need to book a place to this free session, just drop in.

Make a First World War Vehicle
Thursday 24 April, 2.30 to 4pm 
Fulham Library
Age: 5 + 
Come to our craft session - you can make a First World War vehicle. There’s no need to book a place to this free session, just drop in.

World Book Night is on Wednesday April 23 and will see authors giving talks at Shepherd's Bush Library and Hammersmith and Fulham library staff using the council’s rickshaw to cycle between Shepherd's Bush Library and Hammersmith from 6pm to 8pm giving out free books.

Cityread London, which is funded by Arts Council England and sponsored by Transport for London, is a month-long celebration of literature running throughout April. To see the full schedule of Cityread events visit www.cityreadlondon.org.uk.
