There was disappointment for children across the borough yesterday, Tuesday July 30 as the annual Playday event in Ravenscourt Park was cancelled due to the heavy rain.

Hundreds of families were expected to attend Playday from midday onwards, but Hammersmith and Fulham Council decided yesterday morning that it could not go ahead.

The council informed the public with a brief announcement on Twitter @LBHF and on its website: " Due to heavy rain which is due to last all day we regret that Playday has been cancelled."

Playday has proved hugely popular in past years, with a wide range of activities for children, plus inflatables, games and stalls. This year, the council had also teamed up with John Parnham Leisure to offer a number of free fairground rides.

John Parnham Leisure, however will operate a Summer Holiday Children's Funfair in Ravenscourt Park every day until August 4, from midday through till early evening.
