Two Latymerians - former pupils at Hammersmith's Latymer Uper School - could be going "head to head" in opposing teams in today's 134th Varsity Match at Twickenham.

James and Simon

The two, both from West London, led the school's rugby teams to success before going on to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Simon Davies (2012) who is named to start for Cambridge in the rugby varsity is reading Chemical Engineering at Jesus College and usually plays fullback.

Simon was a lynchpin of his year’s successful School 1st XV and was on Latymer Upper's tour to South Africa in 2010.

James Faktor (2009) was Head Boy and led the equally successful team of 08-08, enjoying his School tour to Australia. James read English at the University of York, captaining the University XV and is now at Oxford’s Kellogg College on a postgraduate creative writing course.

Named on the Bench, if he takes to the field to win his blue he will follow in his father’s footsteps. Steve Faktor (1974) won a rugby blue for Oxford in 1975.

The Match website says: " The 134th Varsity Match will kick-off at 2.30pm with Oxford needing one more win to make it six in a row to create a new record for the fixture. Cambridge still leads the series by 61 wins to 58 and will be doing everything possible to further widen the margin.

"Whatever happens, you will be guaranteed a game full of pride, passion and commitment and a great day out to kick start your festive season "

The varsity match will be shown live on BBC 2 from 2pm, with the match kicking off at 2.30pm.
