|Taylor Swift to Switch On Westfield Christmas Lights|
10,000 fans expected to see singer songwriter on November 6
Westfield has announced today that singer songwriter Taylor Swift will switch on the Shepherd's Bush shopping centre Christmas Lights on Tuesday November 6.
The 22 year-old singer will appear on stage in The Atrium, with Young Leaders from Westfield’s Christmas charity partner, Save the Children, to lead an expected 10,000 fans in the countdown to the switch-on of the centre’s Christmas lights.
After a display of pyrotechnics, snow and lasers Taylor will perform live three of her hit singles, including the smash We Are Never Getting Back Together from her newly released album, Red.
Myf Ryan, Westfield’s General Manager, Marketing UK says:
"Not only is Taylor such a globally recognised artist, she is also of enormous appeal to our shoppers. We look forward to putting on a memorable show for our visitors."
Taylor Swift’s fourth studio album Red, the follow up to Speak Now was released on October 22. After writing her last album entirely by herself, for this record Taylor collaborated with several artists, producers, and songwriters she had always wanted to work with to produce 16 new tracks.
Named by Time Magazine as one of the most 100 most influential people in the world, Taylor Swift has won over 110 awards including six Grammys. In 2010 she became the youngest artist in history to win a Grammy award for Album of The Year and two years later, she became the youngest Billboard Awards Woman of the Year winner in history.
Taylor is the latest A-list star to switch on Westfield's Christmas lights. Since the centre opened in 2008, switch=on duties have been carried out by including Mariah Carey in 2009, Rihanna in 2010 and Justin Bieber in 2011.
Westfield has also announced the opening of its ice skating rink and grotto on November 22. You can read all the details here.
