PC Equipment Recycling / Donation

Hi - new to this forum, so apologies if this has been answered before.I'm trying to give away a working PC monitor to some local group/school. Speaking to the council drew a blank (on donation and recycling). Similarly two or three local schools which I called. None of the big PC recycling firms seem interested in less than 20 PC's.At the very least there should be some recycling method (monitors and other PC equipment contain lead and other manky stuff). And anyway it seems a great shame to have to throw away a perfectly good bit of kit when there must be youth clubs, etc, or need this sort of thing.Any ideas?Thanks,Lucien

Thanks all for your suggestions.  The council did eventually get back to me - they found a school which needed the monitor, and we delivered it there on Friday.I also got in touch with one of the local councillors (Mike Cartwright).  Apparently there are plans to implement a recycling policy sometime in the future...

If you still have the monitor my teenage son might be interested in it.  What sort is it and is it fully functional?

I had the same problem recently. The Council will pick it up free of charge but it's sent to the crushers so that defeats the object of the exercise. Why not write to your MP and see if we can't shame the Council into finding a way to recycle PCs? There must be a way of doing this. I send off used printer toners to be recycled and PCs also must have some value.
