Using this site in Firefox browser

When I click on the links in my news email from this site, and it tries to open up my browser (Firefox is my default) the browser appears to loop whilst downloading the data. It does seem to get there in the end, after a minute or two. I have contacted the editor of this site, and there does seem to be a problem, still unsolved, so I wondered if anyone else gets this problem.So far, 20% of browsers worldwide are Firefox (source W3C), which made me wonder if it could just be me.

Maybe a bit of punctuation would help.For me the problem is far less than it was. It does not have a straight forward solution.

As previously requested, please could the webmaster of this site post his or her comments on these problems and what can be done to improve the situation.Francis having looping problems using other browsers (presumably IE) confirms that the fault lies with the site, not with Firefox.

I have had had problems with looping with all these local sites on all browsers. It was worst with ChiswickW4 when it first came out. Whatever the cause, it is getting better though it still happens occasionally for me. I'm on WindowsXP with automatic updates. I think it may be a compatibility issue between Windows and Firefox. Things will get sorted.

I don't have any problems with this site and Firefox although for the newsletter my default is IE6.

Firefox users on the Chiswick forum have reported difficulties with that site, with online banking, with the BBC Radio site, and various Microsoft sites.  I guess I'll get round to trying Firefox some day, but having to continually switch between Firefox and IE is not the sort of browsing experience that appeals to me.  Is there evidence that all these sites are to blame rather than the Firefox product?

I think it's generally accepted by savvy Internet users throughout the world that Firefox offers a better browsing experience than Microsoft's Internet Explorer.For those who don't know, Firefox is an open-source browser which you can download free and use on both Windows PCs and  Macs. It gives you a faster, cleaner feel to browsing - tabbed browsing, live bookmarks, easily-blocked pop-ups (better than IE which requires add-on software created by third parties).Perhaps some other Firefox users could post their comments/experiences.In terms of why there are issues with viewing this site using Firefox, perhaps the webmaster could answer that.http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

"Since Firefox is far more secure and superior in every way to Internet Explorer ..."It might be more secure, but "superior in every way"? I would be more inclined to believe that if people using Firefox could actually dispense with IE, but I keep hearing about the need to switch to IE to access certain sites. What's superior about that?  Why do you think it's the site's fault rather than Firefox's?

Me too! Hadn't occurred to me that it was due to using Firefox, but quite a few websites (eg online banking) have problems with Firefox. Since Firefox is far more secure and superior in every way to Internet Explorer, webmasters will have to start ensuring their sites are fully Firefox compatible.
