Parking Permits and dog mess (boring, I know)

Hi I'm new to this forum but have lived in the borough for almost six months, was in Chiswick previously and have spent most of my life in West London (and an avid QPR fan since a nipper).I've basically got the hump, not about QPR but the Council..My gripe is this.. When I moved in I paid £55 for a 6 month permit enabling me to park my car (If I am lucky) in the road infront of my flat. Now the permit is up for renewal, I have to pay 200 odd quid for another 6 month permit - what's that all about ??? I don't even have the option of paying in installments !Last Thursday, in the early hours, on the same day my notice of permit renewal arrived, I parked my car in a space near where I live. I got out of the car and stepped onto the pavement and into a mountain dogs mess. So bad that It cost me a pair of trainers and a pair of trousers ! I called the council the following morning asking what their policy is on Dog Fouling, I was told they don't have a policy on Dog Fouling and have no officers on patrol with the authority to serve  abatement notices to irresponsible dog owners. So, I now have to pay my £230 or whatever it is to park my car, outside my flat, on which I incur an already excessive Council tax and just have to accept the dog crap on the pavement. Hammersmith Council, "Serving Our Community" Fleecing it more like.I think it is an outrage ! Keen to hear how other car owners and pedestrians feel about this.

My post was - doh! I was looking at my car licence.  Actually, Hugh, I think Kevin has a point - much as I enjoy your animations this matter of parking and dog-mess is serious.On the matter of parking - I got a PCM parking outside my daughter's house in Chiswick.  I had hardly had time to go inside and get a temporary permit when I saw the warden disappearing on his scooter - having put the PCN on my car in the intervening few minutes.HOWEVER - I pursued my claim of unfair issue (not giving me time) and it was accepted.  So if you are unfairly dealt with - don't just leave it.

Hi Hugh,It's not so much the animations you've posted. I gather from previous threads that you're quite keen on all things internet related and I commend that, It is clear, however, that your timing and delivery require some work. In regard to the language, I care not whether your animated pals breathe sighs of relief in German or moon man language for that matter. To be honest, by posting these animations you’ve pretty much, I feel, trivialised a thread expressing real concern of a real life affecting issue.Hugh, I care about the community I live in, I'd rather not see the streets of my community littered with faeces, and I’d also prefer not to view a dog urinating excessively in an animation on a thread posted on a community forum.  I need only to look out of my window and see it happening in real life, the dogs round my way sigh in very good English, by the way..

er, yeah, um, thanks Hugh.. not sure I understand why you've put these up though mate, they seem very random. Your mate, the french poodle, what is he saying ? What does "Wousf" mean ? I have no idea what Glub is either.Poor effort my friend. 2/10 Must try harder..

It's disgusting that you even have to pay £55 to the council to park your car!  They're trying to CPZ my area, some roads have been done so the rest are now capitulating.Regarding the dog poo, I made a posting about this earlier.  It's amazing that in the 21st century it is still 'acceptable' for dogs to poo the pavements!

Ok, I've verified this with the council I do only have to pay £55, thank god. Seems like I got the wrong end of the stick. That said, I found their letter very unclear though. Thanks for responses guys. But I'm still concerned at the reactive nature of the councils policy on Dog fouling, sure, they'll get street cleansing to come out and clear it up (they do a good job) but, why not put procedures in place to stop it happening in the first instance ? I suppose it's a funding issue ? If the council were to issue fines to dog owners then the project would probably pay for itself anyway... I propose a fine of £55 :)

A Resident's Permit costs £95 for 12 months, or £55 for six months. If you have two cars, you can buy a second permit at £420 for 12 months or £220 for six months.

Kevin,Do you have more than one car? If you've only got one, then it sounds like they are trying to charge you the incorrect rate ( if I remember a permit for a second car is around £400 pounds annually, rather than £100 which is approximately the rate for the first car).

Hi Kevin - and welcome to the forum - rather less active than Chiswick.  My annual parking renewal is £170.00 and due this month - something odd with yours, I feel.  The permit usually only allows you to park in the designated area - if you have sole use outside your house that may account for it.  Dog-shit - well, it's the London plague like chewing-gum, and you can only have it out with an offender and hope that they don't just tell you to f*** off which is the usual response today.  After three applications we have been unable to get cross-over into our yard on the grounds that a space will be lost, notwithstanding that our car will be off the road - some logic!
