You mean these blocks? (Click on the image for a larger photo) The left-hand one, built in (I think) 1959 as Putney Bridge House, saw the start of my career in IT, way back in 1960. My first task was to mark out the car park so as to fit in one more car!The right-hand one, nearest the river, followed a year or two later, and they became Bridge House North and Bridge House South, both occupied by ICL as part of their "Putney" collection of buildings. ("Bridge House East" was the Eight Bells.) Many people were confused by Bridge House South at "ICL Putney" being in Fulham on the north bank! You're right about them having good views; we used to watch to see how many cars parked on the ramp upstream of the bridge on the Putney side got caught by the spring tides.Anyway, enough of nostalgia! You want to pull them down and provide something useful, but the one nearest the river is now a Premier Travel Inn with 154 rooms. Isn't that useful? The architecture is certainly dated, though I seem to remember that the architect was Richard Seifert who later designed Centre Point and the NatWest Tower.
