AMBITIOUS plans by Delancey, Jamie Ritblat’s private property company, and Akeler, the business space developer, to build half a million square feet of offices on a prime site in Hammersmith face rejection by local councillors, The Times has learnt. The estimated £400 million scheme aimed to create a new Thames-side business quarter with 480,000 sq ft of offices, equivalent to half the size of the original Canary Wharf tower. It was to link Hammersmith Embankment with the town centre, remodel a public park and transform the riverside with a new watersports facility and outdoor cafés. Hammersmith & Fulham council said: “We have received a planning application for this scheme. We do have concerns and will recommend refusal in its current form.” The developers have now withdrawn their application.
