NEW COUNCILLORS

I have been trying to find out ways of contacting my local councillors. The LBHF website has not yet been updated following the election last month. I know my councillors for Broadway Ward are unchanged but feel the lack of updated details is an insult to local citizens. The website now has the results posted (as of last Tuesday): http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Council_and_Democracy/Democracy_and_Elections/Voting/Previous_election_results/59228_Results_2006.aspThey promised to let me know when the email addresses and details of local surgeries are posted. This is not a good start to the new regime.

One major thing has happened since the Tory's have got in, is that the despicable Red Flag on the A4 side of the Town Hall, has been replaced with the Union Flag!!Give them 3 cheers..

Thank you for this information. I think a better location for it in the webdsite would be under 'Elected Representatives' as is somewhat hidden away under 'Democracy & Elections'. I also note that Councillor Cartwright is still listed as a 'Cabinet Member' which I believe is out of date. I have not checked the other Labour former cabinet members.

Ok Jon. I suppose the order in which these two things happened made us fair game!It was quick and cheap to bring in a new logo to send out a message that things really are changing. I only wish that after all those years of Labour Party control, it could be as quick and easy to make the rest of this Council genuinely put residents first.Console yourself that postings on this board do at least lead to some positive and reasonably rapid responses.Mark LovedayCabinet Member for Strategy

Interesting response from Mark Loveday – Cabinet Member for “Strategy” in the new Tory administration. Obviously changing the colour of the council logo is “Strategically” more important than helping local residents contact their Councillors. But I guess he doesn’t have to worry about us, the unwashed electorate, for another 4 years. What will be the next “Strategy” - how about a new strap line, “Residents First” sounds a little tired methinks.

I did notice that they'd managed to put a new logo on the website though.  Goodness knows how much of our council tax that cost, but it shows where the new regime's priorities are eh?
