Help!  We have Mice

We have a problem with rather a lot of mice, both in the cellar and garden.  Caught 4 so far.   And neighbours both side have them too.  We are using traditional traps (they prefer chocolate to cheese) but any suggestions for really exterminating them?   Can one use poison?  None of us have a cat which may be one reason they have made themselves at home.

My wife said to me that it was time we dealt with them so we bought one of those electronic frightners, and I got a couple of those little plastic grey jobs."Find a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your door."Sited against the wall - important - and judged that it might be living down the pipe from our radiator into the floor where there is a gap large enough.  A mouse can get though a crack the width of a pencil BTW.Sure enough, next day mouse RIP.  Poor little thing!

Couple of nights ago a little tiny mouse came on our patio, had a look around the barbecue and then went to the vegetable garden. It was looking around for the longest time, such a tiny little thing and then all of a sudden it had enough of us watching it, it dived into the tomato patch and disappeared!
