FIND OUT WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING IN H&F

The next meeting of the Hammersmith & Fulham Community Safety Board is from 7-9pm next Tuesday, 26th September in the Courtyard Room at Hammersmith Town Hall (nearest tube Hammersmith).It is an opportunity for anyone who lives or works in the Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham to hear reports on how the borough is being policed and order maintained. Both Heather Valentine, the Police Borough Commander, and Councillor Greg Smith, the Council Member for Crime and Anti-social Behaviour, will be available to answer your questions.In addition, the Borough Commander has organized a presentation on how she polices the three football clubs in the borough, which should be particularly fascinating. Edward.  Have pencilled it in, but its my french evening class (still trying to crack the lingo after all these years) on Tuesdays.  Which is why I could not come to the last one.

Thank you, Edward - noted.  I do urge others to try to make it; not only is it informative and important for all of us, but it is a chance to meet, and to partake of some extremely good refreshments the while.  At least there were some that evening, and much appreciated.

It was a great pleasure to meet William Hosking at the Community Safety Board meeting last Tuesday.As far as I know, he is the first member of this forum to make it to a meeting (unless others have attended without introducing themselves). I am delighted to hear the enthusiasm expressed in the replies to this post. I am only sorry that just one forum member could attend on this occasion.In the hope that longer notice will allow more of you to reserve the time in your diary, the next meeting is on Tuesday 21 November in the Small Hall at Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street, W6 9JU (nearest tube Hammersmith).The meeting will start at 6:30 pm with some procedural items in which members of the public do not particiapte. The best time to attend will be 7-8:30 pm, when you will hear the report from one of the borough's most senior police officers, the Council's report from Greg Smith, the Cabinet  Member for Crime and Anti-social Behaviour, and a special police report on counter-terrorism.As usual, there will be plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you want. I look forward to seeing some of you there. I went, and was impressed with the dedication of the people connected with all aspects of our concerns, and particularly so with the Borough Commander whom I had not seen "in action" as it were.  Had to leave before the end when the public had a chance to speak up, which included representatives of Chelsea Football Club who were hoping for some help in providing more parking space at matches!  I am glad to say that this was knocked on the head by Councillor Greg Smith who pointed out that many of the parking areas were already oversubscribed by residents alone.  I know that on match days at QPR I have to go wandering around the streets in order to find a space for my car.  There are plans afoot to prevent visitors on match days using residents' parking facilities.
