Anti Social Drinking in Hammersmith

I picked up the message on the Acton Forum that Hammersmith and Fulham  published on 19th October a notice under Section 12 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 (which provides the Police with powers to deal with antisocial drinking in public areas that have been designated for this purpose by the local authority under Section 13 of the Act).This Order will cover the WHOLE of Hammersmith and Fulham from 1 November 2006.Does anyone else know about this one?   I am aware there is an order covering Ravenscourt Park area but not that it would be extended to the whole borough.

The drinks ban is actually slightly different from what has been done in Ravenscourt Park. The Ravenscourt Park scheme is a 'dispersal zone' which enables the police to move on any groups of individuals. The borough-wide drinking zone allows the police to seize alcohol from anyone causing trouble by drinking in the street. If the police enforce it properly it should enable them to deal with problems in Little Brook Green, around teh Town Hall and elsewhere. We think the borough-wide ban is a first for us. The mix of housing.  Plans stated one third private, one third shared ownership, one third to rent.  They wanted more private ownership.

Yes, John.  It was a very interesting meeting.  Local policeman came and talked about crime in the area. A couple of councillors were present, we were briefed on the closure of school in Hurlingham area and effect this will have on schools in our area and Andy Slaughter came 'as an individual' but did fill us in on Prestolite.  Surprise, surprise, plans been changed and its back to the drawing board due to Ealing Council objecting to the mix of housing.  The AGM agenda was adhered to and there was a good balance of questions and discussions.  Finished up with a glass of wine and friendly neighbourly chats.

Thank you, David.  I hope it helps to resolve problems in the areas concerned.  I know that it has certainly been beneficial in the Ravenscourt Park area.
