Closing Hurlingham and Chelsea School
No great surprise to see the unions and a local MP trying to stop the inevitable with scare stories about selling the land. This school should have been closed long ago as once you have lost the confidence of the community there is no future for a school. It is likely to be an unsettling process for the children involved but better that than another generation of local children getting a sub-standard education.I can appreciate that some parents with children in local schools might have misgivings about taking on the children who have to leave the school but where else would they go?We don't have enough good secondary schools round here, particularly non-denominational, therefore something has to be done.
