The London telephone code
Following on from the zero/nought debate, another matter I would like to discuss is the London phone code.I know for a fact (check with Ofcom) that the code for London is 020, followed by an eight-digit local number (eg 8765 4321).The 020 code was introduced to vastly increase the supply of numbers to London, and will eventually allow numbers other than 7 or 8 after the 020.But most people seem to think that there are two codes for London: 0207 and 0208. In reality, when calling any London number from any other London number, you don't have to dial 020 at all - just the last eight digits.
