Injured dog

Last night a young dog was hit by a car in Greenside Road, about 6:30ish, after a lot of shouting and very strange behaviour from the owner it appeared that the dog had gone.  A lot of residents looked up and down the road to try and find the poor animal which was clearly hurt and in shock but we couldn't find it.  Please keep an eye out as it may be hiding somewhere as it's probably very frightened and if you find it I suggest you call the police or contact me and I'll take it to the vets.Thanks

Guess you could try the RSPCA but doubt they could do much in the way of looking for it as the dog could have wandered off anywhere, I know how you must be feeling as I would be the same, you know there is an injured animal somewhere but are powerless to do anything.  It may be the dog has gone back home, unfortunately again without knowing where that person lives you can't report it.  Hopefully somebody else may see the dog and either report it or take it to the RSPCA hospital at Putney or the Blue Cross in Hammersmith.

Well a responsible dog owner wouldn't have a puppy off the lead and certainly wouldn't start pulling its legs to demonstrate that it's injured and then wonder off and leave the dog, I feel sorry for the dog too and I feel sad that it's probably hiding somewhere, frightened and in pain.  I've rung our local vet and no one's brought an injured dog in, the police didn't even bother coming out last night so don't know what else do to?

Unfortunately that is what they do, isn't it, it is the animals instinct to hide away.  Sounds like you have done all you can though.  And this highlights the fact that however well trained the dog, they should all be kept on leads when near roads, it just needs to see something that grabs its attention and they are off!  You say the owner acted strange........wonder why?

Thanks - I'm just worried that it will have hidden somewhere and might of died.  It wasn't the drivers fault and he was really upset - it wasn't on a lead and ran out into the road and then was even more petrified by all the shouting and aggression thereafter - poor little thing, wish we could find it.

Oh the poor thing, hope it is ok.  And nice of you to offer to take it to the vets, you are obviously an animal lover like me.
