Shooting in Hammersmith Grove area?

Does anyone have information about why the streets were cordoned off by police in the Hammersmith Grove neighbourhood today?

What a dreadful thing to happen.  The lad's family must be devasted.  It does make one wonder what the world is coming to with young teenagers chasing one of their own down the street in the middle of the day and killing him.

According to news reports this morning the lad was chased down the road with a group shouting "knife him, knife him".  Whatever may or may not have happened nobody deserves that.

The Standard headline seemed to thing that the most notable thing about the murder was that it happened on a road where some houses changed hands for over a million pounds.There also seems to have been a lot of jumping to conclusions in this case about gang involvement. Out of curiousity I googled the murdered boy's name. I found a contribution he had made to a discussion group on educational books saying how it would be easier if material was downloadable and he could use his computer to read it. He was studying for A levels and was on his way home after having lunch with his mum. What a shocking waste.

There is a lot of coverage about it in today's standard (at least in the lunchtime edition) Passed the junction of the Grove and Goldhawk Road at about 6:15 and was unaware that this had happened just an hour before.
