Labour Claims Victory as Tories "Back-Track on Pay Hike

Saw this on the news pages. What's the problem if our councillors pay themselves an increase anyway? This is common in business. They've cut tax by 3% so they should be rewarded. Anyone know how much they earn?

I didn't see the item.  Are they not giving themselves the increase now?  If so, glad they saw sense.  Have they changed their mind on any of the cuts?

I'm not against an increase for Councillors per se, but 18% at a time when cost cutting is costing some Council employees their jobs ?  Not very bright if you ask me.It's easy to cut Council Tax, the trick is not to have an adverse impact on services; we won't know whether our Councillors are worthy of reward for a while yet......
