Double lock your door - even when you are in
Three in the afternoon wife and I sitting comfortably (yesterday). Very loud bank downstairs. "Who's banging the door?" I ask. Another loud bang and wife goes to investigate. "Someone's breaking in!" she shouts. I rush down - the door nearly burst open. Squint through peep-hole - no-one there. Open door and two guys posting cards. "Did you see anyone at our door?" I ask. They say a guy was running down the road as they walked in. White, dark-haired is all they can say.Wife had called the police as I ran down the stairs. None came - nor today - coming tomorrow, if you please. If I hadn't been there the door might have been burst open - and then what?Morals - 1. Always lock both locks. Ours was only on the Yale and he must have checked by pushing against it. 2. Don't expect the police to come unless you are actually being assaulted and are able to call them..I suppose he was a druggy looking for a quick break-in - and we have a high hedge in the front garden - perfect camouflage.
