Having had a forum drinks as recently as 28 June, I think we should give it a few weeks before thinking about the next one!I thoroughly enjoyed the last one, although I can understand why I might have been accused of political promiscuity for being on good terms with both Andy Slaughter (Labour MP) and Greg Smith (Conservative councillor). My acquaintance with them both stems from my previous role as Chair of the H&F Community Safety Board and from my applying for the job of editor of the Hammersmith Today website. Andy S had expressed an interest in discussing both these organisations with me and kindly invited me to the House of Commons for lunch to do so. And I have worked very closely with Greg Smith as the council's Cabinet Member for Crime & Antisocial Behaviour (although I didn't actually know he was coming to the forum drinks!). Anyway, I saw Greg at lunch yesterday at Stephen Greenhalgh's home, and he seems to have taken the unexpected encounter with Mr Slaughter in his capable stride!Let's hope we get an Indian summer in September and maybe have another chance to meet outside somwhere. Enjoyable as the last two drinks have been, do people agree that we should try to get a few more firm committments from forum members before setting a time and place for the next one? Although the quality of the attendees last time was high, would it be nice to increase the quantity a bit too?By the way, I have put myself forward for Chair of the newly-formed H&F Neighbourhood Watch Association, so if there are any NW co-ordinators reading this, I would appreciate your vote!
