To some extent, it depends on our age. For the average older person [I'm one, but I'm sure you're not], there exists a dichotomy. First, we need more light to see BUT,second, we can't deal with glare (the iris adjusts less quickly)! Hence the old boy, head down, driving into the flashing gloom at about 10 mph... The way this old boy tries to deal with it is by narrowing the eyes - it works for him but gets very tiring!
