Policing and Dangerous Dogs

For anyone who is interested in the issue of policing within the Borough and in particular, for those concerned about the problem of dangerous dogs, the next meeting of the l.b.h.f. Community Safety Board is next Wednesday 21st November in Hammersmith Town Hall (Courtyard Room) at 6.30 p.m. The Community Safety Board is a joint committee comprising the Council, the Police and various local organisations and residents. Their function is to promote communication between all these parties to try to ensure that the Borough gets the policing and security it wants and needs. The meetings are open to the public and anyone can attend - in this particular meeting there is to be a joint council and police presentation and discussion on Dangerous and Nuisance Dogs.

Just to advise who have posted on this thread that the Hammersmith Forum Drinks will be on Monday, 26 November, 6.30 onwards at the The Andover, 57 Aldensley Road, W.6.  Aldensley Road is north of King Street and Glenthorne Road.  Nice friendly local and I am asking them to reserve a table (or even two) in the corner.Do come along - it is always an informal, relaxed and interesting gathering.

Thanks Edward and I'm glad you're still taking an interest in this - it's obviously a very useful forum and so I  will do my best to publicise the meetings. (I was the only M.O.P.at the last one!).  Now that the new Committee is starting to find it's feet, I hope that the admin and organisation side of things will also improve. Thanks for publicizing the H&F Community Safety Board meetings, Frances. I used to advise people of the dates of forthcoming meetings on this forum when I was Chair of HFCSB, so I am glad some one else is fulfilling that function now.Concerning the HFCSB website: this was another project which I started, but let go when I stepped down as Chair earlier this year. I have since emailed those currently responsible for running the HFCSB on a number of occasions to remind them that the website needs updating, but, as you have spotted, nothing has happened, so it's great to hear that you will raise this at the next meeting.For the record, I also organized a shorter URL for the website, which is www.hfcsb.orgRegardsEdward

http://e-voice.org.uk/hammersmithandfulhamcommunitysafetyboard/files/Well, I couldn't manage to open any folder to see any Agenda or Reports of previous meetings..and a February 2007 date suggests that perhaps someone somewhere needs to pull their socks up!In Richmond-upon-Thames Borough the meetings are advertised in the Local Press.  Hounslow meetings are not.As I don't live in W12 or W6 (or the other 10? postal districts in the Hammersmith and Fulham Borough).. I'm not really in a position to join you in pressing for change!I saw Commander Ali Dizaei at a Hounslow Meeting..so he'll be aware of their potential.

Sadly our meetings don't quite live up to yours!  The committee is certainly comprised of representatives of different and interesting organisations as well as police and council, but they are not otherwise well supported and the general public do not yet seem to be very aware of them or of the fact that they can attend.  Also, although our 'old' Borough Commander used to attend, we now have a new Commander (your old one I think, Cmdr Desai), and he has not managed to attend any meetings since his transfer to us in July. Let's hope we can generate some interest and support and get our meetings up to the same level as the Hounslow ones!  Afer all, if we want our police to work for us, we have to tell them what we want!

In theory, yes.  The website is www.e-voice.org.uk/hammersmithandfulhamsafetyboard/.  It's a community based website but, unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for some time and some of the details are out of date.  This will be one of the items I raise at the meeting in fact as the Hammersmith meeting is not as well attended by the public as it should be and one of the reasons is poor information or lack of information. The meetings are a good forum in which to raise strategic issues, complaints or questions about borough policing though and they are very informative.

In the London Borough of Hounslow, a similar Police Consultative Committee is held every 2 months or so.  They are very interesting and informative meetings...well attended by Police and others.The Agendas, Minutes and make up of the Committee are available on Hounslow Council's website.  Is this the case with Hammersmith?

Thanks Frances can't go myself but would have liked to.  I get off at Goldhawk Rd station sometimes to catch the 94 and it is a big issue. The otherday I saw a guy being pulled by the dog towards a child in a push-chair. Unless something is done, there will be fatalities / serious injuries.
