Square onions?

Does anybody else remember square onions?  During one of our highly intellectual conversations at work I happen to mention them and.......well let's say the jacket with arms that tie at the back was nearly bought out!  I'm sure I did not dream it, although it was when I was a kid so we are going back a good few years!

Oooh, sounds interesting.  Well my view is as long as it does no harm to anybody it is fine by me!Actually there was a similar shop down Hammersmith Road, on the way to Olympia, can't remember the name of it though.

Carol - the dirty mac shop does not do lingerie, how can I put this - its a bit more fetish than that and you don't need to take a brown paper bag they have their own.

The mind boggles!Jacksons Wine bar along the way in Sandycombe Road was so sedate by comparison!!Must get a picture for you sometime.  This is a cheeky sexy thread..but so then is Carol!

20 years ago, I used to regularly go to a Wine Bar called Jacksons and what a joy that was...when money was plentiful!Jacksons was 5 doors away from the Mac Shop.  But what do they sell other than Macs? !!  (Ann Summers type gear?)

The edible underwear I have seen are like those sweets that when I was a kid you got on a necklace so you could just suck them.............oh god not sure where this is heading!And yes you can get items for men and women!

How much edible underwear would a person want to eat?  And if you couldn't manage a whole whatever-it-was, what would you do with the leftovers?  Can anyone shed any light (or would it be too embarrassing?!).  Clearly I don't have enough else to think about this weekend...

I think you can still get it, or disposable underwear anyway, which I think is paper.  I think the idea is for camping, people having ops, childbirth etc...never tried it!

You can still get edible underwear, not available in your normal supermarkets tho!

"Do you remember paper clothes,from around the same period(early 70's)"KeithMy old longstanding friend Fred worked with the Dickinson Robinson Paper Group in the 60's and 70's and he spearheaded a "market testing" launch of paper underwear. Paper underwear was suppose to be for short term use and instant disposal. The failed project was filed away with the comment "Wouldn't take off"!!

I remember seeing Tomorrow's World when I was a boy.It showed food scientists trying to grow square fruits and vegetables to make packing and transportation easier and to make things more uniform,but that was all I ever heard of the idea.Do you remember paper clothes,from around the same period(early 70's)

Yes, Carol, I'm sure the nice men in white coats at the Priory will welcome you if you tell them you've come about the square onions.Seriously, a search for 'square onions' on both Wikipedia and Google produced no results. But I must say, I think it would make quite a good name for a band or a business!Perhaps we should try asking during drinks at the Andover if they can fry some up for you - hope to see you then.RgdsEdward

Can't say I've ever heard of square onions. Onions have layers - how would they work on a cube?There's a nice place down in Roehampton called The Priory!
