West London Quiz ! Questions 1 - 30

Let's have another go.Anyone can ask a question.It would be helpful to all if Question Numbers and an abbrev of the question could be contained in each message heading.Also when answering questions..please ensure as far as possible for your message to appear with the correct question header.Sometimes when posting a message it may appear half way up the thread..or at the end..don't worry.10 points for full answer when no clues have been given.Less that 10 points according to questioners discretion.All join in. Although there may only be 6-10 participants..at least the number of website viewers (and possibly Quiz viewers) is a much higher figure..and the Editor will be pleased with that!! 1. Daphne's restaurant is in Draycott Avenue in Chelsea. Big hit with celebs and paparazzi.2. Thai Nice is on the Uxbridge Road in Acton. They have some kind of dish called Volcano Chicken which basically involves setting fire to your plate!3. Rasputin is also in Acton High Street. Russian.

MYes Pears produced in Isleworth..next door to Brentford where there was also a soap work.The Pears family lived at Spring Grove House, and their soap advertisements illustrating clean delicate young face weredistributed all over the world. There is also the Pears Cyclopaedia produced by them still.Several of the family are buried in Isleworth, and one son went down with the Titanic. Jim, you were right on the second part. The clue or rather answer 'worth' was in the question. I remember seeing the Worth building in the 80's and I guess they have moved now. Often referred to as the father of French Couture Charles Frederick Worth was an Englishman, from Lincolnshire and born in 1825. His sons and grandsons carried on the business until the 1960's. In the 30's 'Je Reviens' perfume was launched.As for your first answer well...I guess you get full points. I did not know Pears were made in Brentford. I was actually looking for another soap maker of very fine soaps.So you can pick up some more points if you can tell us!

That could be the Hammersmith and Chiswick Station on Chiswick High Road which later became a coal yard..and is now a housing estate.It could be the old station just off Shepherds Bush Road..that was on the old railway line that swept north after Ravenscourt Park Station just before the main line continued to Hammersmith Underground Station.There is also..and this is all off the cuff, an old station near Brompton Road..on the line from Earls Court to Wimbledon.There is also a "dead" station..now a bookshop.. just around the corner from here in Thornbury Road Osterley.
