We did place a number of restrictions on the licence designed to reassure residents about the future use of the park:· The park will not be a venue for ‘large events’. · All events will have strict noise limits to minimise the impact on local residents.· All events must be finished by 11pm (10pm on Sundays). · A standard license contains references to wrestling and boxing, pop and folk music, music festivals, historical re-enactments, circuses, and magic shows. All of these have been removed. · Generators cannot be left on overnight and event organisers will foot all clean up costs. This does not mean that Furnivall Gardens is going to be used for events day in and day out. It is only intended to cover the events that already take place in the park such as the annual Boat Race viewing and Greenfest eventBecause of the licensing act of 2003 we have to licence some of our parks if we want to continue holding events such as the Boat Race viewing.I can understand why local residents are concerned. However, we have had to formalise arrangements in order to be compliant with the law. This licence is not unusual and by checking the websites of other local councils people can see that they have gone through this process too. The big difference is that they did this in 2003 while Hammersmith & Fulham ignored the change.
