"TFL wont budge - basically becasue it'll slow down the tubes to Heathrow."The reason currently given by London Underground to the Turnham Green campaign group for not stopping the Piccadilly Line there all day is that in the short term it would involve a change to an old signalling system, the replacement of which is already being designed. They are not willing to endanger progress on the new system by embarking on changes to the old one, which would not necessarily be "easy to implement and inexpensive", as claimed by the petition. They have, however, assured Turnham Green users that (a) the new signalling would be capable of supporting all-day stopping at Turnham Green, and (b) they will review whether to stop there all day nearer to the date of the line's modernisation in 2014.At the moment, there is no clear case based on total journey time benefits (according to their figures) for all-day stopping at Turnham Green, but we are continuing the dialogue.Turnham Green has 5.9 million passenger entries and exits per year, whereas Ravenscourt Park has 2.6 million (2006 figures), so you will have a hard time convincing LU of the merits of your case.
