Cctv Pods are out in force in Acton
Residents of South Acton are set to be offered more protection with extra police eyes on the streets.Five new CCTV camera pods have been installed on the South Acton Estate in an effort to reduce crime in the area. Each pod has four cameras and will be used to observe areas that have historically suffered from criminal activity and anti social behaviour. This is a new concept created by Community CCTV and each pod has the ability to save digital footage for 30 days, they see in the dark and do not need to be monitored from a control room as the local Police can log on to the system from a laptop computer.Graeme Perkins, creator of the Community CCTV concept, has been working closely with Sergeant Danny Williams, from the South Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team. The pods are part of a partnership between Community CCTV, the police, and government bodies. The introduction of the CCTV pods is part of a package of long term measures to reduce crime, disorder and anti social behaviour on the South Acton Estate. CCTV has a proven track record in crime reduction and combined with local Safer Neighbourhood Teams will provide a highly visible deterrent to those who are thinking about committing crime or causing antisocial behaviour in or around the area.Sergeant Williams goes on to comment 'with the support of our partners our aim is to introduce a package of measures that will substantially improve the quality of life for all law abiding residents of the South Acton Estate. The introduction of CCTV is a key part of this process'.A link to Photos belowhttp://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g90/chuckaduckpics/Ealing%20press/And for more info on community cctv at www.communitycctv.com
