New Broadband Service

I've recently returned to live in Hammersmith after being abroad for four years and I therefore need to get broadband at home.I'm unable to install Sky and my only options are to get Virgin Media, Tiscali or a BT broadband, TV and phone service. Can anyone recommend a decent service with at least good support too.Any suggestions, comments etc. will be welcome.Thank you

A friend of mine has virgin and rates it highly - unfortunately I cannot get it, otherwise I would.

I use Be broadband, it’s fantastic and I would recommend it to everyone.

I use plusnet and have never had any problems.  It's not the cheapest but nor is it the most expensive.  They have a very good help line which you can phone or email.  They are not very well known because they don't advertise.  However they were bought over by BT last year.  The service hasn't changed so far.  They offer a broadband only or broadband and phone combined and you can chose which service you want.  www.plus.net

I have talktalk - the phone package suits us very well and the b/b is 'free'.  It took ages to arrive, but that was 18 mths ago.  One of our daughters [lives nearby] has just got talktalk in 3 or 4 weeks.We have had litle trouble with it except when the BT exchanges were being uprated.  Speeds have improved greatly recently - often get 6Kbps, usually about 5.8, tho' this can drop below 2 on Friday nights and over weekends.  Presumably this is when people  are watching  heavy entertainment downloads! We use a Netgear router.  I had basic Tiscali originally and that was fine.That's my experience...but you have to make up your own mind!  We live in W12 [westernmost part of Shepherds Bush]

First of all, please click on "Anthony" at the bottom-left of the window and add your surname to the "Full name" field (it's one of the forum rules).If your street is cabled, you should certainly consider Virgin Media. I find their product good and reasonably reliable, and with responsive service whenever I've needed it.  Otherwise there are many broadband suppliers apart from Tiscali and BT.  You might like to look at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html to see what's available.If you go to the www.chswickw4.com forum and put Broadband in the search box, you'll find some recent threads on the same subject.
