Privatisation of our green spaces

Last year we were told that by the council that the entertainments licence for Ravenscourt Park would only be used for occasional events, which I had no problem with. The council now seem to be about to do a u-turn, with a forthcoming reception to canvas views on events they would like to see in the park. So they want to fill the park with events and prevent local residents from enjoying their green spaces.This is an absolute disgrace Cllr Bristow.

I hardly think the council askng residents what events they want in parks can be called a disgrace. Surely that's what democracy is about. If you don't want any events - that's valid too. The right type of evenst would surely encourage more people, or different goups of people at least, to use the parks more. How can that be a bad thing?

You misunderstand why we are holding the reception.A condition on the licence was that we consult with residents twice a year about plans for the Park.  This was a condition on Bishops Park and we had a small event at Fulham Town Hall afew weeks ago.We will introduce residents to our summer programme and ask for feedback.  In Ravenscourt Park the summer programme includes the same events we host every year - the Play Day and a repeat of the Garden Opera.Please take a look at our summer programme on the council website.  I hope there is nothing here that is too controversial and warrant being called a disgrace.http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Environment_and_Planning/Parks_and_open_spaces/Events/98772_ParkLife_events.asp
