Rogue Property Agents

Does anyone know anything about MBH Property Agents on the corner of Shepherds Bush Road and Shepherds Bush Green.  They appear to have gone out of business or done a moonlight flit or something, presumably leaving tenants and landlords in the lurch.  I am trying to trace them as I am taking them to small claims court over rents they collected on my behalf but did not pay to me. However, as ever - there's not much protection for people if a company just ups and disappears leaving debts behind. There's also nothing to stop them opening up shop again in a few months under another name - be warned and if anyone knows anything about them, I'd be grateful to hear it! I have spoken to Hammersmith's Trading Standards department, but there's nothing they can do.

Hi Frankie,We met at the Brook Green Assn Community Improvement Prize presentation in Rowan Road last month. I am sorry to hear about all this trouble with MBH.  Terrible. I do know a solicitor who specializes in dispute resolution and I willask him for a bit of advice when I see him on Tuesday, the 2nd. I know that you have already consulted a solicitor but I cannot think what else to do except to ask how to track down & get your money back! Thanks to responses from people on this website, I was able to track MBH down to their new address in the Goldhawk Road. Having just obtained judgement against them through the county court for the monies they owe (a lengthy process unfortunately), I find that they have done yet another flit and have now closed up their new premises without leaving any forwarding details.  I cannot therefore enforce the legally obtained judgement. This means on top of what they owe, court fees have also been incurred.  Does anyone have any ideas of how you track down dishonest companies like this or bring actions against them (or indeed has anyone seen them open up somewhere else again)?

Isn't the problem with the estate agency ombudsman scheme that it is voluntary therefore dodgy agents aren't likely to be cover by it. Rather defeats the point really if so.

'Have tracked them down (with help from this forum - thank you everyone), so I can recommence proceedings and will see what happens from here. If anyone else has any experiences with them/can't trace them etc.etc. I'm happy to pass on the full details.

Well, I hope you find them and sorry I can't be more precise about where they are. I walked past the old office shortly after they shut up shop and as I stood looking at it, a disgruntled tenant stopped to tell me they had relocated without telling her - and had taken her deposit with them. She'd tracked them down to somewhere along the Uxbridge (or Goldhawk?) road. Good luck!

Frances, they have indeed re-located and are now somewhere on the Uxbridge Road (or what is Goldhawk?). Not sure where exactly, but it might be worth taking a walk down both of those two. They are there somewhere!
