School Fair - Donations required

Hi, I am helping in organising the Langford School Fair which will be held on 10th July 2009.We desperately require donations for raffle prizes, things to use on the day, such as paper bags, plates etc.You anyone or any businesses can donate anything, please contact me on 07930 356234.Many thanks,Claude

It is obvious that donations were not urgently required as no-one bothered to call and collect the item I was going to donate for the school fair which is due to be held today!

Something that puzzles me, Claude, is why do you seek donations on this Forum - Langford School is in deepest SW6 and is possibly nearer Wandsworth than say Hammersmith Town Hall. Are there many parents from W6 with children at the school? Are the people of Fulham in the Chelsea Harbour area or luxury flats overlooking the Thames too pushed to help a school in their locality? The thing that always puzzles me about schools raising money at school fairs is whether the school budget is insufficient. Didn't Hammersmith & Fulham Council boast - on posters to be found as far afield as Turnham Green tube station, outside the borough! - of effectively reducing the council tax this year in real terms? If money is short now, what would it be like if David Cameron were to win the General Election and straight away implement the 10% (or is it more?) cuts in public spending his shadow minister Andrew Lansley mentioned inadvertently on TV the other day?

Hi Claude,I was just surprised that no-one replied to your plea for donations - I guess everyone must be tightening their belts in this recession!I do have a pretty coffee set unused, sorry no box as it has been sitting in my cabinet for some time.
