Dan, When I popped over to the Hammersmith Forum recently and saw the word Furnival it reminded me of the Hammersmith Quiz that I launched here some 18 months ago to stir the porridge...of semi inactivity. Many local posters popped out from hiding...and joined in the "latest" Forum thread. We all learned so much.I recall the questions and answers about Latymer school and that was special..and then one day (Question 10?) someone asked about Berlin! and then we discovered the German street lamp and the plaque beneath ..in Furnival Gardens Remember the Creek readers?I also ran 2 separate quizs on the W4 Forum about the same time and that was a bold move as you can imagine!Unfortunately many of the pictures on the W6 thread disappeared when the intermediary Image Hosting Album that I was using closed down!Anyhow, if you type Berlin in the FORUM SEARCH box..you'll find your way to the long thread and the interesting Hammersmith Quiz questions set by many!

I wonder if Jim is asking rhetorically so he can tell us, and post a picture! There are two symbols of peace and reconciliation in the Gardens, just west of Westcott Lodge (which was a publicly owned building until sold off). One is a cherry tree in commemoration of the atom bombs in Japan, the other is a street lamp nearby making a link with Berlin (I think it was put there by Willi Brandt, then Mayor of Berlin and later Chancellor of West Germany)
