London Buses announced that the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency of buses on the 211 route will be increased from a bus every 10 minutes to a bus every 8 minutes and the Sunday daytime frequency from a bus every 15 minutes to a bus every 12 minutes.
The 211 bus, which travels from Hammersmith through Fulham all the way to Waterloo, suffered severe service cutbacks by Transport for London in 1999.
Greg Hands MP has welcomed news this week that there will be extra frequency on the 211 bus route. He has been campaigning since 1999 to see service levels restored.
Greg even mentioned the bus route in his Maiden Speech in the House of Commons last month. The bus conveniently stops at the foot of Big Ben, convenient for local residents visiting their MP in Parliament.
Commenting, Greg said: “It is about time that Transport for London started to improve bus services which run through Hammersmith & Fulham. Since the cuts to the 211 service in 1999, bus fares have doubled from 60p to £1.20, so it is high time that local people saw some service improvements.
“The news about the 211 route is very welcome and I will continue to campaign for improvements on other routes around the borough.”
