Residents in Brackenbury are fed up with graffiti in their streets. On Saturday, 17 April they are going to do something about it. Armed with brushes, paint and protective t-shirts donated by HSBC, members of the Brackenbury Residents Association will spend a few constructive hours painting out the graffiti merchants' handiwork. By the end of the day Brackenbury will look cleaner than it has done in years.

Tony Stephens, chairman of the residents' association, said, 'We wanted to lift our spirits and encourage residents to look after their patch. Graffiti brings an area down. We're in the business of making Brackenbury a better place to live. Painting out graffiti is something anybody can do.'

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is playing its part the following weekend. A Council team will work round the area, cleaning graffiti off bare brick-work.. All the owners of properties to be cleaned or painted have given their permission.

The Brackenbury area stretches between Goldhawk Road, Paddenswick/Dalling Road, Glenthorne Road, and the Hammersmith & City Line embankment.
