Kurt Wagner of Lambchop called him "sublime"; Michael Timmins of Cowboy Junkies said he was responsible for making him "fall in love with my record collection all over again". Since his highly acclaimed 1998 debut Dressed Up Like Nebraska, and its more fleshed-out 2000 follow up Home, Josh Rouse has been honing his skills as a songwriter, singer and guitar player, and Under Cold Blue Stars is the result.
Rouse's third album for Slow River/Rykodisc is a classic: 12 elegant but understated, happy-sad songs that collectively add up to a tale that is melodic, moving and memorable.

LLOYD COLE SOLD OUT
The English-born Lloyd Cole first began playing his singularly literate pop vision while attending college in Glasgow, where he formed Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.
Cole released his first solo album, appropriately titled LLOYD COLE, in 1990, following it a year later with the ambitious half-pop, half-orchestral DON'T GET WEIRD ON ME, BABE. Intimate performances revealed him to be at the top of his form as both a songwriter and a performer, and created a demand for a similar series of acoustic evenings to celebrate the album's release.

It's not unusual for him to be on Top of The Pops with artists such as Jakatta or Jazzie B.Originating from Sierra Leone, the guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Folo Graff is one of the leading African musicians based in Britain. Folo Graff is an expert in traditional African musical styles and has performed and recorded with many of the greatest artists of Africa.

At the source, the sound is most definitely contemporary roots, blending jazz, folk and blues with occasional electronic flourishes into what has been coined a 'severn soul' or a 'west country blues' ("a whirl of blue-eyed west country blues. Beth Gibbons folk-soul brother has landed."). According to Lenin,'there are decades when nothing happens, and weeks when decades happen'. These are heady times the last few months have seen performances at Ronnie Scotts and on BBC London Live, subsequent airplay of the debut self-release 'Seattle's Stage' and the incorporation of some of Nick's music into a forthcoming BBC 2 documentary concerning Bolivian mining communities. Tonight sees Nick and his full band perform their first major show in London at the new cathedral of west London music, Bush Hall. Will he wear that cherry and white GRFC woolly scarf? "Out came Tom Baxter, just one man and his guitar, he's a compelling performer. Tom has an individual voice perfectly suited to his distinctive lyrical and descriptive songs. He sings with clarity, which makes his performance incredibly intimate, involving, and personal. 'Day in Verona', with which he started his set is typical of his mellow finger picking style. 'Almost there', the title track of the EP he recently recorded in his bedroom, went on to demonstrate just how versatile his vocal range is, his performance building with a crescendo to a musical show like finish, before dropping down almost to a whisper at the end. Then the mood changed again and the wonderful 'Try' all but transported us to the smokey corner of a European cabaret bar of the past, where tom the performer, transfixed the audience with a melancholy tale that built to a flamenco like big ending then dropped away to a simple unaccompanied vocal line and a quite arpeggio.
