Celebrity cookery demonstration and food tasting
TV chef Daniel Green @ Ealing Liberal Synagogue
On Sunday 6 June 2004 at 6.00 pm TV chef Daniel Green will be staging a cookery demonstration and food tasting at Ealing Liberal Synagogue. TV’s heart-throb, healthy food presenter Daniel Green has a great story to tell. How he overcame childhood obesity and shed five stone aged 18 to become a model. He spent the next few years travelling the world, working alongside beauties like Claudia Schiffer, but he swapped the catwalk for the kitchen to help others change their lives through healthy eating.
Daniel is currently appearing on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen alongside Anthony Worrall Thompson. He has also raided fridges on GMTV (and can tell you what he found in Jade Goodie’s!) and is Sky TV's Food Cop. In his series, Fat Academy, which he presented with Penny Smith, Daniel showed how viewers could adapt popular dishes to create low fat alternatives. He has also presented Taste Ole on the Charlton Food Network and Weight Matters with Vanessa Feltz on the Discovery Channel. You can see Daniel (and his recipes) in the celebrities section on the British Heart Foundation’s new women’s website and he also runs a food consultancy, advising people on ways to restructure their diets.
In September Daniel launched his first book - Green’s Cuisine - which features fusion of foods from the Far-East. “I have been inspired by recipes from Thailand and have adapted them so that they are suitable for people who need to actively cut out fat and sugar. I demonstrate how these can be replaced with the powerful and wonderful flavours of fresh herbs and Asian spices - many of which are renowned for their beneficial properties - so that you would never even know that you were eating a healthier dish”.
Daniel will show you how you can produce a mouth watering range of fish and vegetarian dishes as well as desserts so good they couldn’t be healthy - all of which we will be encouraged to tuck into during the demonstration. He will also be on hand to answer questions from the audience about adapting their favourite recipes.
Because of his teenage weight problems, Daniel is eager to encourage young people to learn how to cook healthy and nutritious dishes and would be very keen to meet younger members of Ealing’s Jewish community during his visit.
Tickets for the event including the food tasting are £15.00 per person. To reserve a place: Ealing Liberal Synagogue, Lynton Avenue, London W13 OEB.
