Ten local schools will be taking part in the Hammersmith & Fulham Children’s Environment Parliament, which is being held on Wednesday 17 November 2004 at Hammersmith Town Hall.
The Children’s Parliament is now in its sixth year – and is a joint project of the Council’s environment and education departments. The Children’s Parliament involves year 6 pupils and their class teacher working in partnership with the Urban Studies Centre on environmentally themed projects during the 2004 summer and autumn terms. The project culminates in the parliament session in the Town Hall where each school presents their findings and a series of awards are presented.
Cllr Greg Hands will be participating as part of the ‘Politicians Panel’. The role of the politicians’ panel is to listen to and score each school presentation and to agree on one school to which they wish to give the ‘Politicians’ Award’.
Commenting, Cllr Hands said: “This project is a wonderful initiative, allowing the school children to really engage with environmental issues facing the community.
“I am very pleased to be able to take part and am looking forward to the day.”
