New comedy venue @ the Bush Hall

Cabaret feel, with pianist, candle light and even table magician

September sees the launch of the classiest comedy club London has seen for many years. The Comedy Ballroom is set to take the comedy world by storm when launched on Saturday 3rd September (and weekly thereafter) at the rather sophisticated Bush Hall just minutes from Shepherds Bush Tube station.

The Comedy Ballroom will be recreating the Music Hall vibe with a pianist on the grand piano providing musical introductions for the acts, expect to see mime artists, magicians and street performers at many events to make sure the entertainment doesn’t stop during the intervals. A VIP room is also available for private parties which include an exclusive bar and a Romeo and Juliet balcony to watch the award winning comedians.

Bush Halls ornate plaster work and chandeliers combined with the candle lit tables and table waiting service, combine to make The Comedy Ballroom one of the most glamorous comedy events around. Add to this a second to none line up of comedians, performers and pianists and you have the perfect night out!

On the launch night you will find the cream of the comedy world on stage at this intimate Edwardian venue. The ever popular Mitch Benn is top of the bill taking time out from his ram jammed international touring and TV schedule while former Red Dwarf star and now highly acclaimed stand up comedienne and writer Hattie Hayridge comes a close second. Popworld and XFM star Simon Amstell gives London a taster of his sheer cheekiness while winner of the BBC New Comedy Competition 2004 and demonic, teen-with-a-guitar, Andrew Lawrence shows us why he is set for big things. The Perrier award nominee and FAQ U Star Paul Foot is Master of Ceremonies and host for the launch evening, showing us what made The Scotsman describe him as “Kenneth Williams on acid”!

Bush Hall was built in 1904 and soon became one of London’s leading Music Halls with the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel and George Formby gracing its stage. In the 1960’s comedy took a back seat with rock legends such as The Who, Cliff Richard and the Rolling Stones all performing there. More recently acts such as Coldplay, REM and The Corrs have all performed in this ornate venue. The Comedy Ballroom turns back the clock taking Bush Hall back to its comedy/variety roots with the likes of Valentine Flyguy, Ricky Grover, Ian Cognito, JimTavare, Will Smith and Milton Jones all performing over the coming months.
