The Kings Mall shopping centre in Hammersmith will come alive with musical performances, stalls and activities for all the family on Saturday 9 April when the Community Spirit fair takes place from 11am to 4pm.
The fair, part of the Hammersmith & Fulham Festival 2005, will feature live music, dancing and poetry, stalls on Avuryedic medicine and acupuncture, and children’s facepainters, henna handpainters and art workshops. There will also be over a dozen local organisations on hand to talk about their work, including BBC Recruitment, Mayhew Animal Home, Friends of the Earth and London Wetlands Centre.
The Community Spirit day takes place every year during the Hammersmith & Fulham Festival, and aims to increase the public’s awareness of the variety of activities and organisations within the borough and encourage greater participation and involvement. This year’s event will be opened by the London Town Crier, Peter Moore, and its theme is ‘let the spirit move you’.
Cllr Dame Sally Powell, chair of Regenasis, says: “I really hope that as many local residents as possible visit the Kings Mall shopping centre on April 9 and find out just how much the borough has to offer. Here in Hammersmith & Fulham we have a strong sense of community spirit, which is due in large part to the commitment of local residents and local businesses like the Kings Mall. I’m confident that when the public sees the range of organisations and activities on show at the fair, even more people will decide to get involved.”
