Hammersmith hosts its own its own family friendly games
Hammersmith’s 17th Summer Festival comes to a close over the next week with an Olympic style grand finale.

While the Paris Olympic Games can be seen every day on Lyric Square’s big screen, Hammersmith is joining in by hosting its own Family Olympic Games.

Following a launch event last year, Hammersmith BID is teaming up with King Street shopping centre Livat Hammersmith and Chelsea FC Foundation to put on an Olympics-inspired activity day offering free fun for all the family - with adults strongly encouraged to join in the games along with their children.

Chelsea FCF will also be putting on some healthy living inspiration for those taking part in the games and there will also be a Chelsea FC-themed quiz with the chance to win a signed shirt.

To take part, book your 30 minute timeslot on the Chelsea FC Foundation website. Sessions will take place at midday, 12.45pm, 1.30pm, 2.15pm and 3pm. To book a place visit this link.

For those who prefer to sit back and watch the sports action, free deckchairs are available in front of the screen in Lyric Square, along with picnic tables where people can take a break and share a Picnic in the Square between midday and 3pm on 5, 6 and 7 August .

Meanwhile the final Feel Good Tuesday, hosted by Lumi Power Yoga takes place tomorrow, July 30, from 1pm - 1.45pm.

Monthly one hour long guided walks are also continuing this summer. On 3 August, find out more about the Thames Tideway project. The Hammersmith section of the multibillion-pound Thames Tideway ‘super sewer’ is complete, and there’s an artwork to celebrate it. Led by Ann., meet outside Hammersmith Broadway Shopping Centre main exit (outside Joe & The Juice), 11am. Book your place here.

The Olympic Games are once again the focus on 7 September, when walkers can learn about London’s part in these sporting events, starting in 1908 when the Games came to White City, and not without incident. This walk will be led by Guy. Meet outside Shepherd’s Bush Market tube station at 11am. Book your place here.
