Yoga sessions will be held in Lyric Square
June 16, 2025
Hammersmith’s Summer Festival is back, once again promising weeks of sports, films, wellness sessions and picnics in Lyric Square.
The annual festival, run by Hammersmith BID, the independent business led company aiming to improve our town centre, is now in its 19th year.
The summer celebrations begin next Tuesday, 24 June. As part of London Climate Action Week, Hammersmith BID is hosting a Climate Festival from 11am to 4pm in Lyric Square, offering visitors the opportunity to take part in wildflower planting workshop and learn more about biodiversity in Hammersmith.
Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Climate Alliance will be on hand, along with a free bike maintenance and bike marking service to promote active travel, and there will also be a community litter pick between 11.30am and 1pm. If you would like to join in and help spruce up our town centre, sign up here.
As the festival gets underway, the Big Screen and deckchairs are back in Lyric Square, relaying tennis action from Wimbledon from 30 June until 13 July and the Tour de France throughout July.
There will also be free film nights starting at 6pm, including Wicked on 17 July, Bend It Like Beckham on 24 July, Inside Out 2 on 25 July and finally the ultimate summertime favourite, Mamma Mia Wednesday on 30 July.
There will be Picnics in the Square between Monday and Wednesday from July 14 to August 6, with local people invited to grab their lunch from one of Hammersmith’s many eateries and join the crowds at the square’s picnic benches and deckchairs.
King Street shopping centre Livat has also joined the festival to offer Feel Good Tuesdays every week in July from midday till 2pm. These free sessions will offer yoga, breathwork and more and will be open to all.
Inside Livat meanwhile, the centre’s atrium is set to become a Play Zone, offering AR experiences and a chance to Spin to Win on Thursday June 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 from 1pm till 6pm.
Livat says the atrium will become home to a series of immersive Augmented Reality experiences, accessed through QR codes within the Meeting Place, as well as a Spin to Win station, offering prizes from some of Livat’s retailers.
Nature lovers are invited to join Livat's free Community Gardening Workshops continuing on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer in Ashcroft Square, accessible via the stairs in the centre of the atrium.
The Community Garden, in collaboration with Groundwork Charity, is hosting a variety of engaging and eco-friendly workshops, which are free and open to everyone, from summer teas and learning to recognise and feed the local wildlife to general gardening. Find out more about these sessions at here.
There are more opportunities to enjoy the open air with free monthly guided walks continuing through summer. On Saturday 5 July, the subject is Hammersmith in World War II. As the world commemorates 80 years since the end of the war, learn about the borough’s experience of wartime and its important role in aircraft production. Walkers will meet outside Ravenscourt Park tube station at 11am.

On Saturday 2 August, walkers will have the chance to admire our ‘Suburban Belgravia’ with elegant houses, many famous residents and what was once ‘free love corner’! The walk will begin at 11 am outside Stamford Brook tube station.
Though these walks are free, places are limited so anyone wanting to take part must book a place in advance. Find out more and book your place here.
